We spent the night at a truck stop! Ok, technically, Love’s RV Stop is a campground that is part of a truck stop, but that doesn’t sound as adventurous.
We needed a place to stop for the night on our way to Destin, FL, and the Cordele, GA Love’s RV Stop was in the right area. We actually stayed here twice, once on the way to Florida and once on the way back home.

The Check-In Process
Check-in was a little confusing the first time. We arrived around 3:30 on a Friday. The small building at the front has what I would call a walk-up window. A sign near the window said hours were until 5:00, but we didn’t see anyone around.
The after-hours check-in page mentioned a check-in button at the end of an email. Jesse looked back at the email he received, and sure enough, there it was. He clicked that button, and we proceeded to our site. We believe pressing that button turns on your electric hook-up at the specified site, so be sure to keep track of that email! You’ll also need the gate code given in that email to open the front gate.
About the Love’s RV Stop
A large automatic gate at the entrance of the Love’s RV Stop (and another at the exit) keeps out unauthorized vehicle traffic, but the campground isn’t totally secure; foot traffic can go right around the gate at the entrance. However, there is a privacy fence along the front of the campground, so you’re not staring at the tractor-trailers the whole time you’re there.

There are pull-through sites and back-in sites at this Love’s RV Stop. Our site was level enough that we didn’t need to unhook. I don’t know if that’s the case at all the sites, but we did see several other rigs that didn’t unhook.
For all the details of this particular location, visit the Cordele location’s webpage.

The campground was about 20-25% full both times we stayed. It’s hard to give an exact number because RVs come and go so frequently. Several arrived after we turned in for the night, and some could have left early. Even though they make up less than 33% of the campsites (13 of 42 total sites), the pull-throughs are much more popular than the back-ins.

The campground has more amenities than I expected for a campground that’s part of a truck stop. In addition to showers and laundry facilities, there’s a pickleball court, a small splash pad, a dog park, and a community fire pit. The splash pad wasn’t on, and there’s a sign that says it must be turned on by staff. We found the controls for the fire pit, but couldn’t figure out how to turn it on. Maybe that must also be done by staff.
The bathrooms and showers looked clean.

The dog park was a little small, but it got the job done.

We used the washers and dryers during one of our stays. They’re a little small, so you can’t fit crazy-large loads in them, but they worked just fine. There are three washers and two dryers.

There were a few common areas with covered picnic tables. We hung out by one of them for a bit. Aiken and Corona thought it was the perfect spot for a quick game.
Love’s RV Stop Pros & Cons
Pros
- It doesn’t get much easier than a level spot and full hook-ups right off the highway.
- The ability to walk to a convenience store and BoJangles (at this location) if you need anything
- Easy to fill up your gas tank on your way in or out
Cons
- Truck noise: The noise was very noticeable while we were sitting outside, and we could still hear some of it when we were inside. (We didn’t have trouble falling asleep, nor did it wake us up during the night, but we were in the row of sites furthest from the trucks.)
- Security: The gate keeps out vehicle traffic, but anyone can walk right in.
- It’s not an especially pretty campground, though I don’t think
Wildlife
I’m not sure why, but there were snails everywhere! At a couple of sites in the back, you couldn’t walk on the concrete pad without stepping on some. Even toward the front, you could find them easily.

Happy travels!
